Summary of Activities Carried Out by the Ports Inspectorate Directorate (PID) in Port Harcourt

  • Fake, expired and unwholesome regulated products within five hundred and sixty-four million, four hundred and eithty-four thousand, two hundred naira only (564,484,200.00) seized by PID Port Harcourt were destroyed by the agency on 1st March 2005 at Shagamu
  • Nine (9) containers of various unwholesome and expired regulated products seized by the agency were jointly examined by all government agencies at Onne in 2005. The Nigerian Customs Services, Abuja has not yest handed over the containers to the agency for destruction.
  • Thirty-one (31) containers of pharmaceuticals seized since late 2003 at the government warehouse, Onne were jointly examined by the agencie's officers and the Nigerian Customs Service between August and September 2005. Some of the products were found to have expired while the others have been sent to the laboratory for analysis to acsertain their status.
  • One thousand eight hundred (1800) bags of caked rice imported by Stallion Nig. Ltd. in September 2005 were placed on hold at the importers warehouse. This consignment was subsequently released to the importer for sale under supervision by the agency to an animal farm, Aro Ikpa Ltd. Aba for animal feeds production after approval from Head Office. the consignment was valued at N10.8 Million
  • One hundred and fifty(150) bags of unwholesome stockfish imported by various importers valued at three million, eight hundred and fifty-five thousand naira only (N3,855,000.00) were destroyed by PID Port Harcourt between March and September 2005.
